Engagement Party, wha???

Yes, I’m a lagger. It’s been over a month since the engagement party?! Really though, are you sure?!
Time is flying by so fast, and I am being reminded by all the wedding newsletters how many days are left until our wedding. Thanks everyone for the constant reminder that I have yet to do anything for the wedding since last month. It feels like just yesterday I was getting sick and trying to prepare for the party all at the same time. Yay…fond memories…sense the enthusiasm? Read More »

The Avalanche

The avalanche is coming. I can already hear the roaring booms of it falling, faster and faster as it gains its momentum. The goal: to try and keep ahead of it. Possible? Not so sure.

Our engagement party marks 1 year from the day we’re going to be officially married. It’s the start of what I’m beginning to call The Avalanche. Read More »

July, You’re Pretty Crafty

July, you’re pretty crafty…sneaking up on me like that.

I can’t believe July is here. Which means we have 3 months until the engagement party. 3 months?! I swear that it was just last week when I said we have 6 months. Well, no point in being difficult about it, it’s time to start planning!

Charlie and I knew we wanted a different celebration experience for our family and friends. We wanted something far from ordinary and traditional, something more edgy. We knew that we wanted to set the tone right from the get-go. In our eyes, the engagement party is the first of many events that will lead up to the big day. We want to make a good first impression and set the tone.

Because we’d rather spend more of our budget on the actual wedding we’ve decided to go with the budget-friendly approach. We’d have a nice semi-casual engagement party at my parents’ house and rent some tables and chairs. Yes, budget-friendly but tons of personality! Street food, cocktail style reception, lounge music, eclectic decor, and a good time.

Watch for the inspiration board coming this week! Any engagement party ideas out there?

The Big Answer

Let’s be straight forward here – I knew it was coming. I didn’t know when he was going to do it but I knew he was going to propose soon. All the signs were showing, he tried to be sneaky and lie about where he was when he was shopping for my ring, he talked to my parents and afterward my mom came out of crying and hugged me. That’s when I started feeling the butterflies.

We’ve been dating for 6 years, and I’ve known that I wanted to marry Charlie for a long time. We have our differences, but for the most part we see the world in the same way. Read More »
